Hello friends,

Back with an update to let you know about some goodness coming up this week in LA. First off tonight at Bardot we are honored to be hosting the after party for the fabulous Little Boots. Ms Little Boots along with her DJ team "Lovers & Gamblers" will be gracing us with a very special dj set immediately after her show.

Tomorrow night will be the second installment in the brand new live music night cutely called POP ROCKS at Freak City. The brainchild of Desmond-from-LOST-lookalike, Mr. Rick Ross, the night is a gathering of some of LA's best up and coming artists performing for you in a very special venue you would never believe existed in the heart of Hollywood.

Friday will be the official launch of the brand new, revamped Friday's at H.Wood. Our downstairs crew of myself, AJ, BJ and Brittany will still be holding down the lounge however, to all of our excitement, we can now officially say we have taken over the WHOLE bar. The amazing fellas Keith Wilson/LeDisko, iShowmyself's Nicholas, Will & Tommy, Michael Barzman, Mickey Schiff, Amika Akaya and Adam Moonves will be joining us for this brand new super party. You're not going to want to miss this. Before the festivities get started each week we'll be hosting a special dinner for friends and family starting at 9pm. RSVP to one of us and your meal will be 1/2 off.

And finally, myself and the amazing Mr. AJ English are casting some kids for a very special music video for an upcoming major motion picture. The stars of the film will be in the video and we're looking for a few of you to be the co-stars. The video is set to a pretty classic old punk tune and we're basically looking for handful of pals who could fit the 15-25 age range and be in the vid for credit. Please email myself or AJ English and let us know if you're interested. The video shoots all day this Tuesday.

WE L.A. (LOVE ART) celebrates everyday creatives in the Los Angeles area who will come together to present ongoing interactive art installations and unique opportunities for guests to learn and experience art in a non-traditional setting. Guests will be able to create art in a massive backstage studio, experience various mediums of art, and participate in the creative process of the installations.

GALLERY LOCATION

Downtown Hollywood’s Montalbán Theatre 1615 Vine St, Hollywood, CA 90028

THE PROGRAM

Some of the artists that guests will view and engage discussions with may be:

• Karen Kimmel’s “Art of Exchange” stencil workshop is an ongoing series that encourages children and adults to make their own mark. Students will be the first to work on a 40ft canvas that will later become limited addition high-tops.
• Confetti Systems will transform the space with their interactive bedazzled objects that create a point of focus where a spontaneous interaction between themselves and the viewer is sparked.
• Sweaty Sundays is a dance class taught by Ryan Heffington who is a choreographer, performance artist, and designer. His creative class attracts artists, photographers, fashion designers, and screenwriters wearing their best Lycra and bright pastel outfits for a dance-off to indie rock, techno, and 1980s new wave hits.
• Telefantasy Studios mixes miniature model making with 2D animation to bring new dimensions to the art world. Their work is further enhanced by sound from their collaboration with composers and audio designers.
• Glen Kaino’s “Secret of Identity” is a first bringing magic and art together. A whole host of magicians from traditional, to high school students, to LA’s best will come together with a catch: Who is the real Glen Kaino?
• Aaron Ruehll has an eye for attention to detail and color but that doesn’t stop him from proving photography can have a sense of humor and quirky side.
• Megan Whitmarsh draws inspiration from arts and crafts but gives the installation life through her bright colors and large pieces you find in the every day.
• Featuring DJ Ana Calderon.

going to start this new little section of the blog and call it 'a few of my favorite things'... as the title suggests here are a few of my favorite things.

ana's favorite things - daily pharmacy products.

nouba millebaci long lasting lip color #7

1. red lipstick - everyone always asks me the color i use. well i found my current red lipstick obsession almost a year ago at le pink & co apothecary in silverlake. rumor has it that nouba was started by one of the original partners in nars. seems pretty obvious based on the quality and packaging of the nouba line. the brand is hard to find in the US. if you live in LA head over to le pink, if not an angeleno you can find some of their products, including my color, nouba millebaci long lasting lip color #7, at amazon.com (note the drop down menu for color options, the one on display is just a sample.) i highly suggest this color for any skin tone. one application lasts all day long. i have a joke though, if you're getting ready to go out and don't perfectly apply the #7 to your lips, it's time to stay in for the night. one smear away from the lip lines and you've got 20 minutes added in your routine to reapply. the color takes a full force makeup remover to disengage your lips/face/boyfriend's neck. i am a champ at putting on red lipstick.

hinoki eau de toilette by comme des garcons x monocle: scent one

2. cologne - over recent years i have self-diagnosed myself as having a 'hypersensitive sense of smell'. i can really smell everything!! like a hound dog. as a result, finding colognes that don't give me headaches has always been an issue. most of my life i've stuck with sensory pleasing essential oils like lavender, musk, cedar, etc... i tried out l'artisan mure et musc for a year or so, it was a good cologne but not the best, always felt there was somthing more suited for me out there... the second i first sniffed a bottle of commes de garcon's 'hinoki: scent one' in the men's section at confederacy in los feliz i was hooked. yes it's a men's cologne but i think it's pretty unisex. hinoki is the first in what is supposed to be more collaborations between commes fragrance and the upscale men's magazing monocle. the fragrance is said to have notes of notes of cypress, turpentine, camphor, cedar, thyme, pine, georgian wood, frankincense, moss and vetiver and was inspired by the aromas in a japanese bath... i can sense most of those flavors... but turpentine? random. it's not an affordable bottle by any means. every now and then a bottle will pop up on ebay for $120 or so, otherwise the bottle will arbitrarily run you anywhere between $140-200. i suggest it for any man or woman who enjoys a fine rare steak with a dirty dirty martini but also loves to eat psychedelic chocolate mushrooms and roam around joshua tree at night. a lil chic a lil hippie.

This week is another doozy for your old pal Ana. NYC was such a blast... thanks to all my old new york buddies and new pals for showing me a good time. hello new york. i'm coming to you. right now delayed two hours at the long beach airport. ah to think i rushed here...

anyway tomorrow thursday july 23rd and friday july 24th from 7pm-9pm EST i will be hosting a show on diesel radio. i have sweet adam green performing live on the show thursday and one of my favorite new bands suckers performing on friday. make sure to tune in cult.diesel.com/radio/
